Online shopping is becoming increasingly popular due to the many benefits it offers. Aside from getting certain items at a cheaper price, you also save time and cost of going to the mall. In addition, you won’t need to line up at counters or deal with crowds.
What if there was yet another way to cut the cost on products that are already cheaper than in a brick-and-mortar store? That’s too good to be true, some may argue. But definitely true for those who have discovered the wonders of coupon codes.
Coupon codes, also called voucher codes or promo codes, are found in a designated section within the merchant’s website, typically in the promos page or home page. They are also sent via email to customers who have signed up for the newsletters.
Coupon codes often look like these: “JULY10,” “MOM15,” or “SPORT20.” The first code gives a 10% discount if you buy within the month of July, the second one is a 15% off coupon for Mother’s Day, and the third a 20% discount on sports items. Coupon codes are marked differently. Some are mere letters while others are alpha-numeric codes that don’t say much about the deal until you’ve read the description.
There are also some discounts that don’t require a code, like “Free Shipping,” which is applied automatically to your order once you’ve reached a certain order amount. Keep in mind that most coupon codes have limited validity and can be used only during holidays or special occasions. Check the description before entering the code to the ordering system.
The merchant’s website is not the only place to get coupon codes. In fact, it is often not the go-to place to find the best deals. Coupon sites, such as Groupon, RetailMeNot, and SlickDeals, list all the available coupons for a variety of products and merchants. Some deals can be found only in these sites and not anywhere else, not even in the merchant’s website.
To shop online with coupon codes, do not go directly to the site where you’ll buy a product, but go to the coupon sites to check for available coupons for a particular merchant. Once you’ve found the best deal, click on it and it will redirect you to the merchant’s site.
After adding the desired product to your cart, go to cart and look for the box that says something like, “Enter Promo Code Here:” Enter the code and click apply. The page will refresh and show you the final price with the discount included.
Click check out to complete the transaction and place your order with a big smile on your face.
